Dining Room Table & 4 Chairs

Hi,

I am looking to buy a dining room table and 4 chairs, budgeting around £125-150 but struggling to find anything suitable.

I have a 5yr old son so want something sturdy and easy to wipe clean.

Any ideas where to go looking as I don't really want to buy online without seeing it first. Thinking maybe a trip to ikea may be the best.

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks
Sarah

I have the Ekensberg table from Ikea - very good quality, mine is five years old and still gets compliments from people assuming it cost a lot more. However at £115 it doesn't leave much for the chairs. Can you not stretch to a bit more? You're not going to get anything of quality for £150.
    Gone ... or have I?

Thanks for the response, I think I may have to adjust my budget a little bit as there is no point buying too cheap if I am only going to have to replace it again quickly.

Looks like a trip to Ikea when I finish at 4 today :)

I've recently been looking at dining furniture - if you look at the Warsaw dining table and benches in Homebase. They are reduced to £99 and there is a code for 15% off. Friend has got this in her kitchen and it is quite compact. I am considering buying the white for our playroom. Good reviews on argos and homebase (both same company/products).

If you look on the debenhams website - have a look at the Flip range of dining furniture - I have bought the Flip acacia table and 6 chairs for about £225 with a code - but think they are reduced further now (so perhaps the same price with a code) - plus would be cheaper with only 4 chairs. Have not received them yet, but saw them a while ago in a debenhams store and they were nice.

    Hope this helps.

thanks op for posting this, I am looking for exactly the same!!! my son is 3 though :D
I currently have a glass table but the top sticks to the legs with sucker pads which I now hate and two broken chairs. - I think you do get what you pay for. I also am looking at ikea although I like the look of the stuf on here http://glassdiningtable.co.uk/Category-280/glass-dining-table-and-4-chairs but they are somewhat over budget and Im not really sure what the quality would be. I would love to know what you go for. I really want something that can deal with dettol and loads of it so it will probably have to be glass.

Try your local auction house. Mine was 25 pounds for table and 6 chairs. Looks ok and I dont mind when DS draws over the paper onto to, paint at it etc.

I am also looking for a table and chairs and going for the acacia flip at Debenhams with the Lotus Acacia chairs but just waiting to see if there is another blue cross sale coming up! Kicking myself that I didn't order it last week as it would have been £25 cheaper over all!

Dizzy do you have a B and M bargains near you? Try there, they have some decent ones and you will find they have a few for your budget.

have just come back from focus with a really nice oak (not sure that it is completely oak but not really bothered) table and four chairs with faux leather. 150 quid so bang on budget and it looks loads more expensive than it was. Called Somerset Oak table and I am over the moon. :D
guess I will have to put a wipeable tablecloth on it though!
