Yeah I noticed that too! I only saw a chap roasting them for sale in Central London a couple of weeks ago, and I'm out and about every day. In past years I'd have seen one or two per day.
Seen no chestnuts in shops either...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
ive had them from sainsburys and morrisons in the last four weeks l0

I have a fridge full. I think that they ripened early this year due to the mild weather.
Everytime my hubby went dogwalking he brought me a bag full back.
There is only so many things you can do with chestnuts, getting fed up with them now!
Although they were free!:D0 -
They are in all the farm shops at the moment.
Dont know if this helps you?

I saw a beautiful big pile of them in the christmas market in newcastle
i really wanted to get them cos I love them. Trouble is they were £3 for just 1/2 a kilo. And it's only my mum and me that eat them so I had to walk away and leave them.
Kind of wishing now I hadn't. Haven't had them for years. Last time I mustn't have pierced them all properly cos there were one or two explosions in the oven.
Never had the problem on the coal fire, can't bring myself to try them in the gas fire, even if it is a living flame type:rotfl:"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
