can you get a cheaper settlement

why do you want settle?
do you just want to clear your debt and have been making monthly payments until now? ----> almost certainly no you wont - why should you pay back less than you owe when you agreed to make payments over an agreed period. There are millions of people in a similar position. They will expect to get back all they are owed plus the interest accrued. A lump sum payment will certainly reduce the debt though and should allow the remainder to be paid off very quickly.
it may be a different story if you are trying to settle once on the back of the car being repossessed.0
