Wait a minute, you're actually supposed to FINISH paying back you loan!!?
Sorry, I really don't know, so shouldn't really be posting witty retorts :silenced:
I get the impression that the SLC can do whatever they want though, so I'd be surprised if your friend had any success.0 -
if u pay off early they keep taking it then when it is officially cleared ie the original date without early paying, they refund it you back, so u pay twice then get a refund, as far as i know0

They have now stopped taking the money off her but are messing her about with refunding the overpayment.0

I am having the same problem, I finished paying at the end of August, had a letter confirming it but they have continued to take payments. The SLC blames my payroll dept, my payroll dept the SLC. I had one refund in October and none since, I think it depends on the csa you speak to.
I am now only dealing with their complaints department, you can email them on customer_complaints@slc.co.uk but they are so slow, overwhelmed with demand I suppose.
They have said that they refund with interest added, no idea how much but make sure your friend asks for it.
Let me know how it goes, I am getting mightily frustrated with them now.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
I have the same problem! The Student Loans Company (SLC) said I need to speak to Inland Revenue, then the Inland Revenue said speak to SLC. Then the SLC said speak to my payroll who were unable to help. They owe me around £2000, and I really could do with it, but they are doing my head in.
The last time I spoke to the SLC she said that I may have to wait up to 2 years before it is resolved. as the backlog is so high. Its very frustrating, and I can't think of anything to do0
