I've got my CV finished and a draft of my supporting statement done. I'll go through it tonight with DH and hopefully get it submitted over the weekend. I've got a couple of weeks until the closing date, then the interview is at the start of July (fingers crossed I get one!). Looking at my CV, things are pretty impressive, except for the last four years when I've been a SAHM, so hopefully they'll want to speak to me.
  • Hi WI

I've spent the last few weeks popping in to read your diary from start to finish. You do so well on ebay, I have to get back in to it!!

Good luck on the job front & fingers crossed the house sale starts to progress soon.

Seems like I haven't posted for ages - no excuses, just hectic days (usually with very little achieved at the end of them ).

The house sale has moved on a bit, our buyers have had their mortgage survey done and are just waiting for confirmation of their offer. Their solicitor has started the searches, so once all of that has been completed it looks like we might be getting close to exchange of contracts.

Still struggling on, trying to balance the budgets and make sure we don't overspend or go overdrawn. It's depressing how little will power we have when it comes to non-essential spending, particularly when we have the credit card to hand. :(

Totally fed up with DH at the moment, he's feeling very hard done by at the moment and it's coming across as being my fault for taking all his money. Had a huge row last night when I asked him not to eat all the breakfast cereal as an evening snack - he assumed I was just being a b*tch but actually it's because I can't afford to buy anymore until next week. If he eats it all then we have to go without (or even worse, the children have to go without). He's very good at making me feel guilty (whether he means to or not) about not contributing to the household finances. The sooner I get a job the better. In the meantime I've reduced the amount of money he gives me each month to the bare minimum, it may be cutting my nose off to spite my face but I feel I need to make the point to DH.

Ok, so after some thought I decided not to this, seemed a bit petty once I'd given myself a kick up the bum and it was only me that would suffer. DH seems repentant and his doing his best "good husband" act, long may it continue!

Closing day for applications was yesterday so hopefully I'll hear if I've got an interview soon. Feeling really nervous - what if they didn't get my application? You had to email it in - what if I got the address wrong? Can you tell that I really want this job? :rotfl:

Got a few collection only items listed on eBay at the moment - they all have watchers but no bids yet. I hope they sell as it would not only free up some space but make some cash towards a trip we've got next month.
  • Sorry you and DH had a row about money ...I have had similar this week too. My DH was acting like he was due on his period with his "woe is me" act and the fact that we have nothing -no money, nothing to show for all his hard work and the fact that he's a few years off of 40 and has nothing. I gave him a kick up the backside and he's ok atm but this moan is a regular occurrence in our house. I keep reminding him we are saving so it might feel like we are still debt but we will have something to show for it eventually. Urgh! :p

I hope you hear back from the job you applied for very soon, nothing worse than waiting on tenterhooks! xx

No news about a job interview yet and I'm feeling a bit despondent about it. The closing date was last Wednesday and interviews are next week, so I was hoping to have heard something by now. Although it's a job I could do easily, I've got a feeling I won't get an interview. I emailed them today, just to check they had received my application and ask for feedback if I wasn't shortlisted but haven't heard back yet. :(

No news on the house sale either, it feels like everything is on hold at the moment. A few weeks ago I had optimistically pictured everything being done and dusted by the end of the month, with me also having a fab new job - guess not. :( Moan, moan, moan...at least tomorrow I'm going to venture in to town and get my eyes tested (which I've been meaning to do for ages) and finally get myself some prescription sunglasses, so I can stop squinting like an idiot every time I go out in the sun!

Hopefully back with a more cheerful post soon.

As promised a more cheerful post!

Happy thing 1 - I got myself some lovely new glasses and prescription sunglasses yesterday. :)

Happy thing 2 - I've got an interview for the job I wanted! :D

They say things come in threes so I just need a call from the solicitors to say we've exchanged contracts and my weekend will be perfect!
  • Ah fab, 2 out of 3 isn't so bad ;) I hope you hear back about the house very soon! When is the interview? Good luck :D
