33 books sorted out to go to charity and 4 listed on Amazon. Just need to get DH to go through his books now as I'm sure there are at least 15/20 that could go but he's a real book hoarder so it's not going to be easy.0

Hey white Iris, have just read your thread from start to finish, what an inspiration you are! You have made me feel guilty about the pile of clothes I have to ebay, so Im going to get off my bum and do it this weekend. Keep up the fantastic work.

Haven't really made much money this weekend although I did sell one item on eBay (99p!) and one of my books sold on Amazon (the cheapest of course!). We did have a lovely weekend though and it wasn't too spend-y
I have had some de-cluttering success and cleared the cupboard in my childrens bedroom so now I can open the door without fear of being crushed by an avalanche of toys:eek:. I also moved all their outgrown winter/spring clothes in to one large suitcase ready to be eBayed in the Autumn - I was stunned to see how many clothes they had and also relieved that we had bought very few of them new! Roll on the winter when the toys (waiting for closer to Christmas - they're unsuitable ones or duplicates bought for Christmas/birthday but all BNIB) and clothes can be sold.
Hopefully some good news on the house front too. We've got a buyer coming round this week, who sounds keen. We had started to give up hope of selling and had decided to drop the price by nearly £10k - with a bit of luck we won't have to now! Now need to go and start a deep clean and get the place sparkling0 -

Well he did compromise - sort of! He got rid of about 5 and agreed to a whole shelf-full going in a box in the attic (after I told him the kids could reach them and kept trying to eat them ). He also managed to restrain himself and only rescue one from the box I had already sorted out to go to charity! Still have a shelf of text books to clear and send back to school with DH but the bookcases are looking good :T0 -
Well the house viewing was a bit of an anti-climax. DH did it and I took the dogs and children out of the way. They were complimentary and said they liked it but were very non -committal as to their next move. They should be calling our estate agent today, so it's a case of wait and see if they want a second viewing :-/0

well you inspired me to de-clutter my book case (one anyway) so thank you
i have 3 huge bags of books to go to the charity shop! Decided i didn't need the whole collection of stephen king, james herbert & virginia andrews anymore lol so all gone
-well they are sat in kitchen waiting to go so nearly there!
I hope you get some positive news from the estate agent today. the only time i sold a house was in the boom and it went within 48hours for full asking price which i thought was too high anyway! Now i have a house that i can't sell too, and have dropped price a few timesif i could all my debt could be cleared in one. it's a nightmare isn't it. Good luck with yours though x

This is the third house we've owned and the first two were both bought and sold during the housing boom too. They were snapped up really quickly and left us with pretty healthy profits each time (where did the money go???). Giddy with property purchasing success we bought this white elephant a month before everything collapsed in 2007 and it's been sickening how much money we've lost on it and disheartening how little interest we've had from buyers0 -
Still nothing from the estate agent, I'll call them first thing in the morning and hopefully get some feedback on the viewing. It's frustrating, not only because I want to find out if we're any closer to selling our house, but because I need to keep everything put away until I find out if we're getting a second viewing. I want to be sorting out cluttered cupboards and filling boxes with things for the carboot sale we 'may' do in the summer holidays (if I can figure out the logistics of finding something to do with DS & DD) but I need to keep everything neat and tidy and not turn the spare room back in to a junk room!0

Hi, i am also living on a budget with two kids, i look out for the sales in the supermarkets for clothes, i shop months ahead, even for xmas and birthdays, i keep a small fund building in a separate account up for every bargain i see, i only buy things that i know i need, ie kids presents or clothes. Some times you can pay £1-£2 for a brand new item! Tesco have a clothing sale right now, got a few bits for xmas, also argos have end of catalogue sales where you can get toys for half price, i just bought two large items for xmas and saved £20 on there full price! Just have to hide them well!
also i was thinking, what type of car does your husband drive, could you make petrol and insurance savings by down sizing? Just a thought!0
