if your future partner lived in a house they 'owned'....then after a period of time living together, you become entitled to a percentage of the 'equity' in that property.
I'm not certain exactly how long you would have had to have been co-habiting....but eventually you would become entitled to 50% of the equity in that property.....which would be realised if you split up from your partner...
He will be renting his house out and we shall be sharing a rental property, so I suppose, even that we are not living in his owned house, that eventually I will become entitled. That's not the answer I wanted to hear
Wonder how long that period of time is?? 0 -
sorry lala, you misunderstand.....as debtinfo posted earlier, equity issues will not affect you in your circumstances.
Equity issues only arise if the shared home is owned by the other party....[ie, the party moving in, eventually can be deemed to acquire part-ownership, put simply...the same as occurs if you got married.]
Since you are moving into a rented property, for your SOA you will have to put down your share of the expenses.....as above, this will be proportional to your own income as against your partner's income. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
As the OP has now clarified that they will be moving into rented accomodation with partner and not into partner's own home, then I can confirm my post #5 is definitely not relevant. Neither is the comment earlier on about paying 'rent' to partner as that only refers to own home situations. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
