Prize Delivery

Hi, I just wondered whether people who work full time list someone elses address on comp entry forms - a relative or someone that is home most of the time when the postie comes.

I just wondered this as I work full time and have found recently that when the postman has delivered anything I've won he's given it to one my neighbours for me. Luckily this has always been people on the street that I know and like, but as my next door neighbour and I don't get on very well I was wondering if I ought to list my parents address instead as they are usually home to receive post. Sadly my next door neighbour supplements his benefits by being a theif (which he has admitted to me, so I'm not making wrong assumptions!), so I always wonder if there may have been things arrive that have never made their way to me.....

I had a WEM yesterday from UKTV to say I'd won a camera and am now paranoid the postie will give it to the bad neighbour. My husband has said that I ought to put my mums address on the forms as he doesn't trust that the neighbour would give us a package if the postie gave it to him for me. Is anyone else in this situation out of interest?

I have replied to the WEM and asked if an item can be delivered to work and that hasnt been a problem.

I'm sure plenty of people employed full time do work from home, but for those who are not at home during the day you could get the postman to leave your parcels with a neighbour or red card you and you can collect them when you are free.

Have you thought about speaking to your postman about what you want done with your mail? If you dont tell them you don't want the neighbours to take parcels then they wouldn't know this was a problem, especially as you haven't said it's a problem up until now?

I work full time and don't get on with my neighbour either. I spoke to my postman which I suggest you do....if its something that doesnt have to be signed for, leave a plastic box outside so the parcels can be put somewhere safe. If it has to be sighed for, if you have a neighbour you do trust ask them and him if they could sign it for you. If not, ask him to leave a red card. They are usually pretty good if you are polite to them.

I agree with talking to your Postie, I would rather have the card through my letterbox than the postie to give it to my neighbours as allthough they are ok I just dont trust their kids. Now whenever Postie tries during the day I usually arrange for redelivery on the weekend or pickup after work if I am finishing early from work.

Just tell them not to deliver to anyone else if you are not home

Using a relative's address sounds like a good idea. The only problem with speaking to the postie is it doesn't cover wins that come by other carriers.

We are lucky with someone being at home most of the time and having good neighbours on all sides but a few months ago a local radio station posted the following question on their Facebook page.
"If you received a parcel not meant for you and no one knew you had it what would you do?"
