Child's Party - Budget £12 - HELP!

I am trying to organise a children's party on Sunday on a budget of only £12.
Presents have been bought for the Birthday girl (5) and numbers for the party are unknown but could ben around 15 children. It's a bit of an informal affair so all I am really looking for is help and inspiration on cheap but effective decorations/food etc.
She is into Peppa Pig so I was thinking pig noses made with egg carton bottoms painted pink and making paper chains out of strips of magazine............. i can also probably knock up some fairy cakes and biscuits with my older 3.
Any other ideas I would be very grateful for.
Thanks in advance.

I find that even at age 5 girls like to get involved with baking, and at parties in the past I have provided fairy cakes I made in advance with bowls of icing and some sweets to allow them to decorate their own. If you let them each do 2, they could eat one at the party and take one home in their goody bags.
Again, if you provide some elastic and some beads, they could make their own bracelets, and again they can be popped in their bags. If you print off some pepa pigs colouring pages from the internet, they could either do them at the party or they could take the home.
Games wise, at that age you can't beat old favourites like pass the parcel, treasure hunts etc. If you are artistic, you could have pin the nose or tail on the pig. I use old comics to wrap up the parcels, or if you can't be bothered, do pass the hat as an alternative - each person has to pass a hat and put it on, and are out if they are wearing it when the music stops0 -
:j Thank you for those wonderful suggestions. This is shaping up to be a great party. i was thinking it was going to be a disaster before i put my MSE head on

Anyone got any other ideas??0 -
My grandkids love to help out in the kitchen. They especially love making their own pizzas.
Just buy some of those round mini pitta breads as bases (less than £1 for 6). I then put out little bowls of peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn, peas, grated cheese etc. Get them to spread some tomato puree on each base and then let them loose with the toppings. You can then just pop them under the grill for about 5 minutes to warm then through. (the pizzas, not the children!)
Guaranteed to eat them all up if they "made" them themselves, and keeps them entertained too!

You could make a pink peppa pig pinita (sp?) ...using a balloon to cover with paper mache for the body and a smaller one for the head...just pop in a few sweets and use a stick for wacking!!!
How about making fabric bunting for decorating using old unwanted clothes?...just cut (with pinking shears if you could beg or borrow some) or just normal scissors, of if you are handy with a sewing machine you can make them double sided. Just cut triangles and sew/glue onto bias binding/ribbon/string/fabric binding.
Make up your own pin the tail on the pig? ...can use unused wallpaper?
We had parties where children painted their own t shirt, ask them to bring one along which could do with a face lift and they used a number of things to decorate. It was good as they used to take these home instead of a goodie bag and it entertained them too. Use paint with brushes/potato prints/old tyres/toys to print/cut up value sponges into shapes? ......cut up pieces of fabric into heart or flower shapes for them to glue on.....they can glue on buttons/beads/sequins/ribbons/lace etc. I used to acquire bits and pieces from packaging, presents, old clothes.0 -
I have a six year old daughter and what was most popular was decorating the cakes, playing with play dough and drawing and colouring printed sheets of Children's characters.
If the weather is nice and the park is close by you could have her party in the park. Maybe get the kids to prepare the food before you leave. You could try getting them to make their own sandwiches, chop fruit up for a fruit salad, decorate a biscuit etc and then have a picnic in the park.
Good luck.0 -
