I haven't used this stuff before and am slightly confused! The instructions just say 'apply alternate days to clean, dry nails'. Do I just keep adding extra coats every 2 days or do I need to remove the existing layer before apply new?

I don't know the answer to this. The diamond one can be a top coat, so you can just pile that on layer on layer. The blue one does say clean nails implying its more of a treatment and should go on bare nails....maybe.

I've never bought from Argos and used the text me when new stock in. As there's none left in any stores in my area, can I still buy now at the £1 advertised price and wait until Argos get in touch when stocks have been replenished?

No. You pay the price charged on the day you buy.

I do have a bottle of the Diamond Strength Nail Hardener, tho it didn't stop my nails from breaking

I second that. I've got really long nails anyway just bought it for it so called moisture retaining qualities. Used it for 3 days one nail peeled badly and one nail split down the middle. Think I'm gonna give my second bottle to someone with shorter nails than me.
So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
    Hope sharing saves some pain.

I'm pretty sure your supposed to take it right off every 2 days so you can let your nails breathe.
