Sterile technician interview- what can I do to prepare?

Hi all! Long term job seeker here since graduating university. Recently applied for a sterile tech job in a dental surgery (Just this Monday). Got an email Tuesday afternoon confirming an interview. There was no job description since it was a small advert in the paper last weekend, so I don't know what the exact role is, but have a vague idea it is making sure equipment is sterile, not contaminated and preparing trays for any procedures etc. Any advice? The email was quite informal did not say to bring anything with me! Freaking out a bit since it is tomorrow and I'm not the best at interviews!

Any help much appreciated, it's just nice to eventually hear back from something I applied for!

:)

Difficult to say. However there is a similar job in the NHS which is a Sterile Services Assistant (decontaminating instruments and packing for wards and theatres)... and on their personal specification you need to be able to demonstrate that you are a good team player, that you have good organisational skills, good communication skills, basic computer skills, and that you have manual dexterity skills. Hope that helps.

Use an internet search engine to search for the dental sterile technician and look at the job descriptions to give you a feel for the job.
Review your application so you know what you've said.
Make sure you look clean and presentable - important for all interviews but as you're looking to get a job as a sterile technician having clean nails is probably even more important than usual.

Relax, take time to formulate your answer to questions and don't be afraid of asking for a question to be repeated if you need it to be.

    Good luck

Thanks all! I've had a read through the NHS stuff and I think it may be quite similar. It was just a CV and covering letter I sent so not a lot to read through. Guess there was something there that interested them! Hopefully have no problem with the clean hands since I'm an assistant chef and already know the principles of hand hygiene which possibly has went in my favour, as with the dexterity of preparing food.

Oh well fingers crossed, think it's more my nerves that let me down than anything else, blooming hate interviews! :rotfl:
