Would banks look at my last tax return or my current income?

Hi all,
I'm self employed. My last tax return didn't show a huge income because I was abroad for a lot of the year. Would banks look at my last tax return or at my income now in determining my mortgage?
Thanks,
larochelleuk

Probably your last 2-3 tax returns AND your income now.
Why were you abroad - establishing new trade links or having a holiday?0
