80% Deposit, moving to new area, no job yet...how do you get a mortgage?

My husband and I want to move to a new area, 400 miles from where we are now. We will have £250k of equity and want to buy a house for £300k so we have an 83% deposit. BUT, we have no jobs yet and so cannot prove an income to service a mortgage. Given that Self Cert does not appear to be an option anymore what options do we have? As a by the by we will also have a 'pot' of £30k on top of our deposit which we are keeping aside just in case it takes a while to find jobs or if the house we buy needs work done.

Personally I would rent until employment is found and had an opportunity to get a feel for the area.0

We had thought of that, but we have two dogs and 6 chickens and from what I have seen it would be easier to rent a house if we had 12 children in tow as opposed to two well be haved dogs and 6 confined chickens!0

Sometimes its necessary to make choices. Even just on a temporary basis.0
