hi, i am wanting to send money to a german bank account but my bank charges for this, is there any way that i can send money by wire transfer securely without having to pay.

would it be easy for me to set up a german bank account?

any replies are greatly repreciated, cheers

unless you're going to be sending funds to this account in Germany on a regular basis, you're probably best to pay the one-off fee for this transfer. All the major banks have additional charges for non-sterling accounts which are only really worthwhile for businesses or regular users etc.

My knowledge might be a bit dated but that was the case last I knew

Try HIFX (https://www.hifx.co.uk). They don't charge for the wire transfer and I found there rates to be quite good when I used them although I'm not sure what the minimum you need to transfer is (I used them for a property purchase in Italy).
