Navfree - Free SATNAV for Android Mobile phones

This is an Android version of an app that was featured in the weekly email some time ago
The main difference with Google Maps Navigaton (which is free on all Android phones anyway) is the maps are stored on the phone. This means no roaming charges abroad and no mobile phone data charges when using this app.
However, it is a big download to the mobile phone (300MB).
As a new user I cannot post a link but if you google Navfree Android you should find it.

The iPhone version has a nice 'walking' mode for on foot navigation, I assume the Android has the same feature.
This app is nice in the car so passengers/kids can track the route, look at nearby town names etc, on a handset even if there's a main Satnav in the car too - and NO DATA needed!0 -
Is anyone going to post ther link?GONE ENGLAND0

Does anyone have this downloaded - it does not say anything about walking directions and that is what I need! Can someone please let me know if it has the capability? Thank you. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

The iPhone version certainly does have walking mode, worked well in Birmingham, so if Android version is the same, it will too. As it's free, just install it and see.
..update.. Yes pedestrian mode included on Android app

Thank you - finally got my tab back and downloaded it, looks great, quite amusing trying it in demo mode! Will take a walk when it is dry again and try it out! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
