I have also been receiving calls from Claude at Money Care UK for the past couple of weeks. I have experienced exactly the same patter from them with regard to money owed "mis-sold by over charging", "gross mis-selling", should not have had my erc added to my mortgage, should not have had loan repayments added to my mortgage, should not have been sold an ASU,, I have been "financially disadvantaged" and that I will get a minimum of £17,000 back (which will take 9 - 12 months) - I too was asked to pay £99.99 upfront on my credit card and when I stopped halfway through giving my details there was a sigh on the other end of the phone and more persuasion. They have e-mailed me a letter about their company and their terms and conditions - what to do??0

We cannot comment on the content of your phone call as we were not present to hear it and we dont know if you have an axe to grind. However, we can tell you that you should question any claims company that makes these claims to you.
You have said the following:
"money owed "mis-sold by over charging", - were you over charged? How do they know you were over charged when there is no such public record?
"should not have had my erc added to my mortgage," - it is perfectly acceptable to add charges to mortgages as long as you are given the chance to pay them directly. Typically you would expect the mortgage adviser to have documented that. If you have the money to pay them and you were not given the option then there is the possibility it was mis-sold. In this case, you would expect a complaint outcome to ask you pay the money into the mortgage to cover the ERC and they will pay the interest you have been charged (ie.. to put you in the position you would have been had you paid it at directly at the start).
"should not have had loan repayments added to my mortgage, " - this is a very common reason why people borrow more money and again, nothing wrong with it. To transfer short term expensive debts to cheaper borrowing can be beneficial to the borrower. It can also stop some people getting into financial difficulty. A mortgage adviser typically has to warn that transferring short term borrowing onto long term borrowing can see you end up paying more in the long run but if you are happy with that (as most are) then there is nothing wrong it.
"should not have been sold an ASU," - why should you not have been advised to take out ASU/MPPI? the product is deemed suitable. Indeed, nowadays, its about the only PPI product that is still considered worthwhile. So, you would ask why?
"I have been "financially disadvantaged" and that I will get a minimum of £17,000 back (which will take 9 - 12 months) " - on this one you would ask how they have come by those figures despite virtually none of your details being in the public domain.
The bottom line is that any product can be mis-sold. That does not mean you were though. Anyone of the above points could be a mis-sale but may not be. If the adviser has documented them correctly and done their job correctly then there will not be a mis-sale. Without reading the advisers report and factfind and finding out information about you there is no way anyone on the internet or a cold caller over the phone can tell you if you were mis-sold or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had a phonecall about 6 weeks ago where someone called jane phoned me and told me ive been mis-sold a morgage. she passed me onto some advisor who went over my paperwork with me, it was clear i was over charged. The money i was looking to get was alot ( over 12k ) but then came the fee.....499..... i refused to pay an upfront fee at first and wanted to know why it was needed. They told me they have to pay upfront cost aswel. After 2 days of conversations i paid the fee which i dont normally do. Since then ive been in regular contact with moneycare and another firm called morgage audits. Things seem to be moving along nicely. I havent had money back yet but the company hasnt done a runner so im guessing this is a real company, i found everyones comment on here useful but i wanted to see for myself and hopefully get some money back. ill post an update if things move on.0

I received a phone call back in May from a lady called Amanda from Moneycare UK, unlike some of the other posts I have never felt pressured by this company, I have been a little surprised at the posts that say they were given tempting amounts of money, at no point did they put a figure in my head, I was only told I had an extremely good case. Maybe some of their tele-sales staff put more pressure on than others. I credit checked this company and discovered it was a relatively new company but after speaking to their Director Ian Morris, every question I asked him I felt he answered fully giving me re-assurance.
Although £499 is a lot of money, I decided to pay it as they at the same time would be processing a PPI claim on a no win no fee. Little disappointed to here others have been offered a reduced amount of £99 fee though. My audit has also gone through Mortgage Audits and has been received by Ian, which he has discussed recently with me in full, I am currently waiting for my copy of the audit report, which I anticipate any day now.
I too like Jogger21 have not received any money yet and I cannot predict the outcome of any of the claims being processed by Moneycare UK but currently feel positive. I will keep you informed of my progress0 -
I was contacted by MoneyCare last July promising to get thousands of pounds back for me from a mis-sold mortgage I had taken out.I was talked into handing over £499 which they said was for a mortgage audit (which had to be paid for on a credit card.) It seemed to be going ok for a few months, then after Christmas 2011 I tried to contact their office and the number was unavailable.
I then looked up their company registration number and it said they had been voluntarily struck off so are no longer trading.
I managed to get the £499 back from the credit card company using Section 75 refunds, but I wish I had never been sucked in by these people. It was a SCAM. I have learned that if anyone offers a service and wants money up front then it probably is a scam because any decent company would take a fee after they had won a case.
So this is a warning to anyone else who gets contacted by a phone call promising thousands. Hang up!!!! Don't be fooled and on no account give them any money up front.0 -
Pretty much everyone decided not to go ahead with this, or got their money back via their credit card. I was drawn in and paid £99.99 for 'legal fees', but did it via my debit card, and it was paid at Moneycare Uk via a paypal account. That was in late September and I sent the forms away. I was told this all takes 9-12 months. A few weeks ago I thought I would call to see how it was getting on, but the number was dead. Through this forum I got an email address and contacted it, and got a reply quite quickly, saying the number had changed. When I called the number I was told me paperwork hadnt arrived, so basically nothing had happened. They sent some new paperwork which I completed and sent via recorded delivery. It wasnt delivered and after a week and various emails I was told that someone would be sent to pick it up. At this point I had had enough and asked them to stop everything and return my £99.99. As this fee was for the solicitors and my paperwork claim hadnt got their, surely it could be refunded? Various emails and I am no further forward.
Anyone got any ideas if/how I could get the money back???0 -
i too was suckered in by this company - they even kindly let me pay my 500 in installments. to be fair to them they did sucessfully get me a ppi claim and have passed my mums morgage claim onto a solicitor but mine seems to have got binned. i have tried ringing the MD mobile and the office but both are dead. one of the MD colleugues, who has answered threads on here mobile is still alive but he is not answering. i have tried messaging him but to date no reply so if you are still checking this forum Ian please have the decency to answer my text. i am resigned now to losing my £500 as i paid it by direct bank transfer as opposed to credit card last year but i shud have known better. WShen the PPI claim got processed OK i thought the other wud be ok but there you go live and learn. On wards and upwards as the saying goes and i'll see what i can do now. Iam assuming Geoff has opened up another company somewhere and is trying the same thing under anothe guise so be warned peeps if something seems to good to be true --- it probably is !!!0
