Hi there, excuse me if this is the wrong forum, i don't know where to start.

Bascially I have a mortgaged house - interest only, my husband left me two years ago with my six year old son. He still pays half the mortgage but that's it. Basically I work part-time to look after my son, and my house is a mess. My roof is completely knackered I have had a quote for £6.5K! I have leaks everywhere and it's just a shambles.

Obviously I don't have the kind of money and my mortgage is upto £110K, and we bought the house for £170k and I reckon in its current state we would get £140 ish!

I have tried to apply for a grant but have had a letter to say all funds have been used!! great! CAB couldn't give me any advice.

I just don't know what to do!

I wondered if anyone could give me a bit of advice, or have been in the same situation? :(

I asked my ex to move in here and we move into rented accomodation but he says he can't afford to move in ! He lives rent free! How nice

Thanks in advance......

    Boost income.
    Cut expenditure.
    Borrow from loved-one.
    Move in with loved one.

For £800 you could have got a temporary fix in place to prevent leaks...

Being on interest only and struggling means you will always be effectively "renting" the place. Especially as it appears you have no ability to save to repay any capital - if you have not saved £6k in 3 years, how will you save/repay £110k in the rest of your life..?

If the leaks are obvious you'll struggle to sell for what you need, though.

Put the squeeze on Ex - do you get all you should for child support?
Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Thanks for your advice and thanks for the link, did I actually mention that I was paying for that? and if I had that kind of money of course my first intentions would be to sort the house, just because someone was willing to take me away has nothing to do with this subject,.

And buy somewhere affordable. Such as a 2 bed flat.

And yet he is still paying half the mortgage for you even though he doesn't live in your place?

Why would you be so rude about someone who is doing that for you?

Try again for the grant just before the beginning of the financial year.
