I've not been on this forum for a while now. I contacted CCCS in May 06 and they basically said that I didn't have enough for a DMP and therefore should pay my creditors a token payment of £1 each. I did this but since that time my money situation has got worse.
I've been off work with stress/depression since July due to coming off my medication as I am pregnant. I'm now on a low dose of anti-depressant but even that is a "risk" to the baby according to my GP. I had to go on something as I wasn't able to cope with anything or anyone and I have a 5 and 8 year old to think of. Oh and a husband too.
Debt companies are ringing every day and I feel so frustrated. When I was running up the debt I was bringing home £2K a month (therefore thought I could afford it:o ) and now my income is less than half that. OH didn't quite get the "we need money...could you possibly get a job?" hints I was giving and was sitting around all day watching TV and lying about looking for work. After a week at his sisters house he finally got the message and he returned home very apologetic and is currently working for an agency. Unfortunately this is not secure and there are some days when there is no work at all.
Anyway I rang CCCS again and made another appointment and the lady who rang was really supportive. I had been so worried about losing my house and/or bailiffs paying a visit but she put my mind at rest. I am up to date with my mortgage so far and all of my bills but I don't know how long this will last as I am currently 8 months pregnant and couldn't return back to work for a while.
Today was not a nice day. Started off nicely...OH's birthday and the children were really excited about it but then I got a letter from my employer advising me that I should not have been receiving full pay since September and they have overpaid me £903.54. I was under the impression that I got 6 months full pay and then 6 months half (not that it would have made any difference to me returning to work as some days I cannot get out of bed or leave the house) which I had been relying on. The letter also said that I would be unpaid after December's wage. OMG:eek:
Could do with some good luck right now. Does anyone have any advice about whether I have to pay the money back which they have overpaid me?
Thank you in advance.

I wish you good luck.
Look at your original employment contact if possible or contact your union.
I would have thought if they have overpayed you that you would have to pay it back over a period of time and not in one lump sum.
Most of all remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel (your previous posts are in abundance and therefore you know you're in the right place).

Awww hun, the overpayment situation sucks... I'm sure an arrangement could be made about that though.
Good luck with CCCS, they should be able to help you no end.
All the best!

Hello Shellabear,
Have you checked whether you are entitled to any maternity pay from your employer? This might pick up where your sick pay leaves off.
Employers do sometimes make mistakes about sick pay calculations so it is worth asking them to explain your entitlement and how they have worked out that you have used it all up. If you have really been overpaid, I think they can ask for it back but they can't deduct the overpayment from future pay without your consent. The CAB or ACAS could advise, if you don't have a union. And you may be entitled to some benefits - Working Family Tax Credit? as OH is working - which would go up when the new baby comes.
Good luck!

Had a good sleep and feel a bit better today. Yesterday was horrible and I just wanted to get it off my chest but the first post was a bit garbled. Too much on my mind at the time and I sounded waffly.
Spoke to Personnel and they have agreed not to take anything from my wage until I return to work.
Thank you for all of the replies.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 043 :j
