Should My Payslips Be Itemized?

As well as getting my base pay I get unsocial hours pay (37%) added on for any hours I work after 8pm and I also get paid enhancements for Saturday (37%) and Sunday (74%)

However I have only ever seen on my payslip BASE PAY and Unsocial Hours. I asked where my weekend enhancements were and I was told that it comes under unsocial hours on my payslip. However they are 2 different rates for 3 different pay enhancements, so I don't understand how they can include them together.
Because they do it this way I don't know if I am being paid properly.

Should my payslip be properly itemized and state exactly what I'm getting paid for and how much?


If it should be itemized, should they also provide me with the correct information for all past payslips?

    Do you work the unsocial hours consistently or do they vary? OH gets a flat rate shift allowance regardless which takes all the unsocial hours into account.

    If they vary then it would seem reasonable for your payslip to account for this.

    I work them consistently. Although we don't get paid unsocial hours at weekend as we get weekend enhancements.

    You wouldn't know whether they were paying you properly even if they did break it down between the different enhancements unless you were also keeping your own record of what hours you worked.

    If you are doing that you will be able to work out what your gross pay should be and therefore know whether your payslip is showing this correctly.

    Are you keeping a record of your hours?

    Yeah I am. I just work my contracted hours. This includes working alternate weekends as I am on a 2 week rota.
    You wouldn't know whether they were paying you properly even if they did break it down between the different enhancements

    Of course I would! My payslip says how many units are paid for each payment and the subsequent amount.

    So they do break it down. Have they paid you what you expected?

    I don't know because they aren't itemizing the different payments. Any payments received on top of my base pay (ie. unsocial hours, Saturday, Sunday enhancements) come under unsocial hours on my payslip. But the fact of the matter is, unsocial hours are that exactly and saturday and sunday enhancements are weekend enhancements not unsocial hours.

    In post #5, you say you are keeping a note of your worked hours. So you know what hours were worked when.


    The first paragraph of your OP said, "As well as getting my base pay I get unsocial hours pay (37%) added on for any hours I work after 8pm and I also get paid enhancements for Saturday (37%) and Sunday (74%).

    So from that you can work out what you should be paid. Compare that with the gross amount that they put on the payslip.

    Is the current word "simples"?

    That wasn't the question though.

    My question is:

    One of my staff is a union rep and says it should be but I want to be absolutely sure before I take it up with management and payroll. Reason being is because his pay isn't the same as mine due to him being TUPE and receiving different enhancements. On his payslip (and the rest of my staff) it states Unsocial hours for just that and then WEHALF for Saturday and WEFULL for Sunday. So his is itemized but not on mine or any of the other supervisors.

    I would ask why supervisors get a less itemised payslip than other staff.

    Well apparently its because they are still technically NHS staff where as the supervisors and above are Sodexo staff. They get time and a half for Saturday and double for Sunday. Supervisors get the percentages mentioned in my first post.
