There's something very similar already available at Aldi.

Think it has a 5-in-1 card reader, and was labelled as xvid, free HDMI cable and 3 year warranty.

From the manual, the USB and Memory cards are limited to 512 Mb.

A trawl through the websites told me that Lidl sold a very similar looking player in Eire last month for around 45 Euros. The sites reported much the same, i.e. that the the USB card was limited to 512Mb but a large number of purchasers reported that units had no problem with larger memory sizes and indeed, were able to read external HDDs if formatted in FAT32
