Ballyclare May Fair - lots of free entertainment

The Ballyclare May Fair returns from 20-24 May

Saturday 21 May will kick off with the traditional Mayor’s Parade as well as a family fun day. Families will enjoy the Teddy Bears’ Picnic, It’s a Knockout, bouncy castles and face painting. Citybeat will be hosting the first round of our new talent competition ‘Newtownabbey’s Next Big Thing’. There’ll also be dancing with Jump, Jiggle and Jive.

The traditional market stalls will line the town and at the town hall the Newtownabbey Speciality Market will present the best of food and crafts to tantalise your taste buds.

In the evening, a free concert by The Elvis Spectacular with warm-up by Shine, followed by a fireworks extravaganza, will take place in Ballyclare Comrades Club grounds.

This year we are introducing the first ever May Fair Comedy Night on Monday 23 May- William Caulfield will present the well-loved ‘Our William’ show. Tickets are available from the Town Hall at a cost of only £3.

Tuesday 24 May is known as May Fair day when the streets make way for a horse trading fair. The famous Continental Market will also be in town and another funday will take place, featuring rare breeds, a petting zone, beagles, bouncy castles, face painting, arts and crafts and drumming workshops. Kids will get a chance to make their own May Fair tart to bake at home.

Hugo Duncan will also bring his radio roadshow to the town that afternoon.

In the evening you will be spoilt for choice. There is a cookery masterclass featuring chefs from Barnaby’s and Mount Charles, with food tastings, wines by Grape Expectations and a Can’t Cook Won’t Cook competition at Six Mile Leisure Centre Ballyclare from 7-10pm – tickets not required.

There will also be a Traditional Music and Dance Gala featuring Glengormley Traditional Music School from 7-10pm in the Town Hall, tickets are not required.

    LOL

Uncle Hugo brings a great following, but there's lots of other things going on at different venues while he's on stage if your eardrums can't hack it!
