Lumbruscco Wine is 99p per bottle at Lidl. It's not great I know but 99p might make it taste better.

it's lambrusco. They have the red, white and pink varieties.
If you think of it as a slightly alcoholic fruity drink then I think the red one is very nice. Girlfriend likes it as it doesn't taste "winey" to quote James May

Many many years ago when very very broke we bought a bottle of Lambrusco because it was all we could afford. Well we drank the bottle and thought that had quite a kick for all of it's 7% ABV. Turned out it was one of the wines laced with diethylene glycol!

Wow just looked up the facts and it was 1985, how time flies. Funnily enough reading up about the scandal, it appears diethylene glycol isn't an intoxicant, well not at the levels present in the wine, but that Lambrusco had quite a kick.

Last time I bought it in Tesco it was £1.99- so is it on offer there too?

Last week in tesco barrow it was £1.49 (red) I had a voucher for italian wine so used it up on that. The tesco one has an alcohol content of 5.5 percent, whereas the Lidl one is 4 percent.
