Emergency days holiday = HR appt?

I've had to take emergency day holiday 2 times this year, once in Feb when I had a water pipe burst at home as I showered ready for work, so had to turn water off and wait for the plumber, the 2nd was when mrsbritishboy took me on holiday and we got the return date wrong, since getting back my manager has said HR are to deal with it, is this normal, and can it be done?
Any advice greatly recieved

Getting your holiday dates wrong is not normally grounds for an emergency absence from work. I would guess this is why HR wish to see you!Gone ... or have I?0

It would be quite normal for HR to deal with leave entitlement. It's the sort of thing they do.0

What can i expect when i go in? never been hauled up before0

They may expect you to take the time as unpaid leave, or to take it out of your leave entitlement, or they may give you a warning. Just be polite and apologetic.0

when i realised the error i emailed in work and requested it be taken from my annual leave entitlement (which is what i done when i had the flood indoors, i phoned in on that occasion)0

Impossible to say without knowing more about your employment - do you have a high rate of sickness absence, how long have you been employed there, any other disciplinary issues?Gone ... or have I?0 -

How far in advance did you notify them - was it before you were actually off on leave? Do you have a procedure for booking leave? Ours is 2 weeks notice or as an emergency if absolutely necessary.LBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130 -

In that case I would be very surprised if they dismissed you, but you may get a warning or as suggested, perhaps asked to take the day as unpaid leave.Gone ... or have I?0
