Lost endowment policy certs

Hi,
Wonder if any one can help. I have 3 endowment policies (2 with GRE and 1 with L&G)... There are due to mature in 2013, but after searching now for 2 months I cannot find the original documents having moved several times since taking them out. They are not linked to a mortgage so are just acting as savings policies for me.

Question. Do i need to obtain 'replacement' policy documents now or will the companies just pay the money into my account on maturity?

At maturity you're likely to be asked for the original policy documents, together with birth and marriage certificates, unless your age was admitted at the outset. I would suggest contacting the insurers to obtain lost policy forms as the contracts will probably have to be re-written under new policy numbers to prevent someone finding them and attempting to claim on them.

many dont even ask for them back nowadays. That that do tend to send a lost policy document declaration as standard.

As kinstreet says above, contact them now to make them aware. That way are you not going to find a delay at maturity. However, don't be concerned. Policy docs are not as important in real life as they once were (although they do technically still carry the same legal weight).

I just had to sign a declaration when my endowment matured so I wouldnt worry about it.
Like Dunstonh says, make them aware of it now so it isn't delayed when it matures.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
