I think the best chance of getting to the Olympics would be if they had synchronised scrabble.0

It’s a big cash flow burden as some families could be forced to leave £1,000-£2,000 in their account, even though they may only get £200 worth of tickets.
I agree it's stupid to take the money weeks before telling you which tickets you have, but come on, no one was forced to bid for £2000 of tickets.0 -
Actually, the Olympics is sponsored by Cartels-R-Us - I don't understand why limiting payment options to Visa cards (just because they're a sponsor/valued partner) isn't against EU law?
It's like letting George W Bush be in charge of a nuclear arsenal - oh, wait, they did do that!0 -

Apparently it comes down to 'reasonable access to tickets' which you did/do have, in that you could pay by cheque, postal order or get a loadable Visa card as well as a credit or debit card. There were plenty of ways you could have bought tickets so it was 'fair'.
Mental though isn't it, what difference does it make? I have a Mastercard credit card and a Visa debit card. I had no choice over that, it was just what the bank gave me, why are they spending so much money on advertising and getting stupid systems like this that can only serve to annoy people?0 -
I'm wondering if they've actually sorted out the seating properly (as in where exactly you'll sit rather than in Band X) as they've only actually built three venues so far!
Of course they have. Do you think they build the venue and then see how many chairs they can fit in?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Is it an offence to use a cheque to buy something knowing you don't have the funds, or using your card to try and pay for something over your overdraft credit limits?
It is an offence to knowlingly write out a cheque and give it to someone, if you do not have sufficient funds. The only way around this, is to postdate cheques in order that they fall in line with your bank account being in credit.0 -

Well they can't sudeenly get rid of some and you'd hope no mistakes would have been made but what I meant was are the ticketing people working now on the basis of general numbers, so they can say next month you are in seating block c, or are they working on the basis of next month saying you will be in seating block c, seat 45 and here's a map showing you exactly where you are.
After all, as you say they know what they have so there is no reason not to do that. It's just odd that we've not been shown even general block allocations so you know if you might be on the opposite side of the stadium for the 100m for instance. A thin blue line of cheap tickets on all sides would show that even for the cheapest ticket you have a chance of being in the heart of the action. Or find that the cheap tickets are all at the very back.
If it's all planned then why haven't we seen something is my point0 -

He has applied for £36,000 worth of tickets, paid by credit card even though his credit limit is much less than £36k. He seems to believe that he will only be charged for tickets that he has been allocated and that he will be allocated very few (if any) of the tickets he applied for.
But I was under the impression they would take the full price of all the tickets you applied for? As a result I applied for very few as my only Visa card is a debit card. (I did apply for a new Visa credit card but it turned up 2 days too late - I'm really annoyed with Visa and feel like returning it, but it's an MBNA cash-back Visa and therefore a better deal than my other cards which I had intended it to replace!).
You just know that that guy is going to be the million to one shot who gets every single event he applied for.DEBT FREE!

The seating plans aren't finalised as they are waiting for the exact locations of the press seats and TV camera positions etc in the stadia.
The wait is killing me but i'm not feeling very luckyNo. 5 in the 'Save 12k for 2021' thread.

Interesting. But if they've not worked that out then they really don't know where we will sit when they are taking our money.
If it's not been done yet then what are they waiting for? The stadia to be built to physically see the line of sight?0
