Girlfriend suspended due to drugs

Hi all,
long time lurker.

Right basically my Girlfriend is suspended on full pay for taking Ketamine in her job on care.

I never knew the extent of her use and she claims it's because of depression.

She went into work and apparently a member of staff had complained about her. A manager asked if she was taking anything and if she had taken anything at work. She admitted she had twice. They asked if they could look in her bag and she said no.

Now she's suspended on full pay awaiting a disciplinary.

What's likely to happen? Will police be involved? And what steps should she take?

If she's been taking Ketamine while looking after vulnerable people, it's highly likely they will dismiss her straight away. And I can't blame them tbh.

The only steps she should take are to accept responsibility and provide an apology.
  • That's what I thought.

    Thanks for the advice.

Sacked for Gross Misconduct. The only step she should take, apart from getting off horse tranquiliser, is to find another job.

katamine is a dissasociative and would not have any real use in depression, on the other hand its good that this has come to light before the nasty side effects like permanent loss of bladder control get hold, i was big into the rave scene in the early nineties and a large number of the people we went clubbing with were nurses and a few gp's thrown in for good measure, they were as good at sniffing coke and swallowing ecstacy as the non medical people and quite happy to go to work still pickled from the weekend

Getting a reference is gonna be a killer.

If I were you, I'd start making in-roads to finding a drug counsellor, or going to see your GP.

If she's depressed, I advise you to get her to phone the doctor and make an appointment. Depression is horrible, but Ketamine will make it worse. What she needs to do is talk to the doctor about the depression and the drug use. Basically the drug use is blocking out the depression, and until she deals with the real cause nothing will change.

It probably won't be enough to save her job, but at least she'll be able to go to JSA and say look at ****ed up, but I'm now receiving medical treatment.

Don't be too hard on her, she obviously in a dark place right now.
