in Cutting tax
Hello
I am on paye with current fupl time job. Earning arond 30k/annum. I will shortly be recieving a lump sum paymentn into my account which is around 1.5k from an international source. This is due to some work that i have been doing.
Effectively i am thinking it similar to people who have a full time job and earn rent money as this seems to come up frequently on this forum.
My question is how do i deal with the tax and NI issue relating to the lump payment? Will I have to do a self assessment? I have never done anything similar so pretty scared/worried.
I dont really want to have to tell/ask my full time employer as I dont want issues with allocating my time etc. Plus I dont see why they should be involved.
Any help wi be gladly appreciated.

Yes. Technically you should register self-employed, particularly if you expect to earn further extra lump sums in the future.

You're right. There's no reason why they should be involved in your tax affairs, beyond ensuring that they operate PAYE correctly on what they pay you.0
