Quick Quid / Mackenzie Hall / CashEuronet - Complaint

Hi,

Having used payday loans a few ago with no problems or issues, when a friend was in need of cash I took out a loan from Quick Quid (QQ) in my name. The loan was repaid in early 2009 with no problems.

Then in September 2009 another loan was taken out in my name by QQ. I had not applied for this loan and fortunately I spotted this straightaway and it was repaid the same day by a friend (she agreed to deal with them on my behalf as I was away on holiday). They happily took the money and that was the end of it...or so I thought!

Three further loan extensions were taken from my account, talking to QQ was similar to having a conversation with a brick wall (fed up and rude call centre staff refusing to deviate from the script they're contract bound to stick to!). My bank refused to help initially, stating that I'd given them my details and therefore there was nothing they could do (and here was me believing they were MY bank!). Fortunately one member of staff had the foresight to cancel my card (although she informed me that that may not work and she wasn't really allowed to do so), so as QQ could no longer dip into my bank account for pocket money/to top up their Christmas Party fund/etc. they quickly referred my account to Mackenzie Hall (MH).

More threatening letters, e-mails, texts phonecalls followed, I sent the bank statement containing proof of payment from the account of my friend, who had no previous connection to QQ, to MH. MH then contacted me to inform me that QQ would not accept the bank statement from a 'third party'.They did not however dispute the fact that they had taken the payment!

I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman and am currently conversing with them to try to bring an end to this. MH dropped the case like a hot coal some time ago when they realised they didn't have a leg to stand on (after trying to persuade me to report my friend to the police for fraud for taking out extensions in my name...on a loan she herself had paid off!) and quickly passed the account back to QQ. I had hoped the Financial Ombudsman becoming involved might force QQ to use some common sense...unfortunately this was not the case. Their response to being given the opportunity to answer the complaint was to issue a letter to me telling me how much I owe them and yet again making no reference to the statement I had sent which confirmed payment.

I am currently waiting for the Financial Ombudsman to carry out further investigations and intend to report QQ for fraud when these have been concluded, as they have used my personal details to take out a number of loans/loan extensions in my name without my permission or knowledge. I would urge anyone thinking of using this company not to do so. Although I am sure there are many customers who have experienced no problems in using their services, I am also sure there are a fair number out there like me who have and the emotional as well as financial pressures this company exert are not worth the risk.

Are you claiming that QuickQuid has applied for loans with other companies in your name?

Did your friend not apply for the extra money using your details?
    (That's how I read it)
