Just wanted to check what u guys thought about these fees, cos everyone keeps telling me contradictory things and I don't want to be paying more than I should!
I am having a valuation & Home Buyers Report done by Natwest (my mortgage provider) for £451.
The solicitor is charging me £900 for conveyancing, searches plus her own fees.
Good? Bad? or Ugly?

The Nationwide charged me £680 for valuation and Homebuyers (this is dependent on intended house purchase's agreed price, however). Solicitor's costs are slightly below what I am paying (I am in South of England).
I would say looks reasonable.0 -
The homebuyers report sounds a little on the high side (I think mine was around £300) but the solicitor's costs are about right (does it include VAT?) - but there are other factors including regional variations, size of property and any other complications.0

The solicitor fees I got lots of quotes for and went with someone who had been recommended to me, eventhough it wasn't the cheapest quote.
The HomeBuyers I just accepted what Natwest said!!0 -

Good thinking to choose a solicitor based upon a recommendation rather than pure cost. A good solicitor may be a little bit more expensive but will save you a lot of time and hassle - and possibly money.0
