Hi everyone if this is in the wrong place please move it.
I had a field/Home visit from a Santander agent who informed me that i was £3000 (approx) in arrears and he needed to arrange an appointment with myself and my wife to discuss a plan to sort things out.I explained to him that this was a complete shock to me,as my wife handles the finances, his attitude was "thats what they all say" type of reply.
Any way 45 minutes later he left saying that he would return at 7.00pm that friday evening when my wife would be home, i agreed to this as i was truly shocked and shaking. I phoned my wife and basically ranted down the phone to her demanding to know where the mortgage money had gone and what she had spent it on etc you can imagine the conversation (something i now regret).
Mid rant and 15minutes later another knock at the door by the same agent,i allowed him in again i'm not sure why but i did.He then imformed that he had made an error and that we were not £3000 in arrears we were £400 in arrears. (one Month) new bank account had not made payment. I asked him to leave for his own safety before i did something silly to him. This is the position now after a bad week end brought on by a misinformed idiot,Santander have sent me a cheque for £50 along with a lame letter.Do you guys think that this is adequate compensation for what both myself and wife went through for that week end. Thank you for reading this.

You believed some agent from Santander at your door over your wife? It strikes me that you have made a bigger booboo than Santander have. Perhaps she should have the say on this one?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

You sound like you need help with anger management to be honest.0

I think you are lucky that Santander didn't take further action for threatening their agent. I think you are lucky that your wife hasn't kicked your backside around the block and back. I think you are lucky that you have a free £50 to compensate you for 1 hour of misunderstanding.
If I was in your shoes I would be using that £50 on a nice present for the missus accompanied by quite a large apology.0
