Looks to me like this plugs in to the mains and provides a USB port to plug your device into

How would you plug It in to your computer? It's a socket, not a plug for USB.

I use the car version regularly, and my computer is fine. Mostly because I plug the MP3 or phone chargers in it, not the computer.

The USB mains from Maplins is 1000mA, enough current to charge most of the equipment. I've got a external HDD, which is used to transfer pictures from my digital camera through SD card, and it needed 1000mA. I've bought one mains USB charger and it works for almost everthing that could be charged via USB. Some of the items are:

    - external HDD
    - mobile phone (mine is W800i, charged through its USB)
    - psp
    - Nintendo GB SP

ALL of the above are charged via the mains USB charger. SO less things to carry when I'm travelling on holidays. Instead of 4 individual heavy chargers, I need only one, and the respectively USB cables. The icing on the cake is that it is multi voltage, i.e 100V-240V AND it has different adaptors for different countries!!

Hope that helps if you are deciding about the mains charger.;)
  • I have one of these, bought it a few months ago. It is great for charging most things, but will not charge my Orange SPV C550. I have a ouple of car chargers which will not do this either.

I also bought one of the travel sets of ebay last year - just beore going on holiday. Rather stupidly I took this instead of my phone charger with me then found that I could not charge the phone for the whole week.

Just a warning. These are quite good, but are not guaranteed to chage everyhing that you want them to.
