Murder Mystery

Has anyone had a MM for a big group- we have a party of 25? can't find any boxed games to cater?

  • You can't buy a boxed game for that many players but you can download games from the internet. Just do a search and several sites will come up, you then choose which game you'd like, pay and print off sheets.

I did a party for 20 using a game from http://www.dinnerandamurder.com/ I downloaded it but there was a lot of stuff to print out and i needed to take a bit of time to look through everything and understand what I needed to do. That said, the instructions were very good and there was loads of useful information on the website forums. It wasnt free but it was worth it, it went really well and we had a great night!

the one i did, everyone except me had a character but it told you who were the 'essential characters' and who were less important. Some people who were less keen on the idea took the minor parts and all the out-going show-offs took the main parts! The one I did was quite good as there were no scripted bits. It just basically told you a bit about your character and then had a few secrets that only your character knows about. There was also game money so that you could bribe people! There were a few events that needed to happen (the murder! a presentation of some evidence) but the rest of the party was just 'free flow'. People chatted to each other and worked out things about the characters. At the end of the evening you had to guess who you thought the murderer was but also voted for best actor, best costume, etc. so it made a nice ending. It was really good fun!
  • We did several of these a few years back, brilliant time. I recall a party new years eve that kept increasing in number till in the end the 4 hosts were just that. We prepared served and waited on with a 5 course meal and as we 4 knew the 'script' were able to keep the dinner talk flowing in the right direction as well as adding red herrings into the equation. Almost more enjoyable than being a character, and it meant nobody 'missed' any clues when dinner was being served.
only drawback, had to dress up as butler and serving wenches.
