Thomson Cruise vs Royal Caribbean

I need help on which cruise ship to go with for our honeymoon in June 2012.
We were originally looking at Thomson Cruise on Dream around the med, all inclusive. Although this excludes, cocktails, champange, malt whiskey, branded spirts and shore excursions!
The cost for 7 days is £2,358 for an outside cabin.
I have since been told that Royal Caribbean have much better ships. I found some good deals, they only do full board so we would have to pay for all of our drinks.
I reckon that most days we will be off the ship so would it be worth us going for the all inclusive option.
The cost for 7 days is £2,168 for a balcony.
I dont know what to do!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I went on Thomsons once and have been on Royal Caribbean 3 times.
For the price you have quoted it would be RC for me, depending which ship you are thinking of some of the RC ships now do and all inclusive upgrade that you pay for once onboard,
Have a look at https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk they have a forum you can get info from.
For me would be Royal CAribbeanTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
I'd also recommend RCI - been with them on 4 cruises. I'd shap around a bit on prices - we've done a Med cruise for 14 nights (balcony) for half the price you're quoting before. Try www.cruiseclubuk.com
Be careful with the excursions - for example, last year they were charging £56 each for coach to and from Rome (when you dock at Citavecchia it's a 90 minute journey). Walking 5 minutes to the train station and getting there and back yourself costs seven euros each.0 -

The prices I have quoted are for 2 people!

We are thinking of doing most places on our own, so thanks for the advise. When you have booked your cruise have do you normally book your flights seperately, we think it might save £50 each but not sure the hassle is worth it?Engaged 31/12/2010 Getting married on 22/06/20120 -
Try www.gillscruises.com as well - seem to have some good deals. RCI looks fab & I'd love to go on one of their ships!! Are you likely to spend £200 on drinks in a week - I guess it depends on how big a drinker you are!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93
Crazy Clothes Challenge # 103 - £84/£200 £30 Coat/£12 shirt/£23 jeans/£6 t-shirt/£13 2 x tops
Shoes £79/£100: Cowboy boots, canvas pumps, re-heal boots/ £25 safari shoes0 -
I too would say RCI and would not recommend booking flights seperately for a saving of only £50, if anything should happen and your flights are delayed you could miss the ship and then are stuck - if you book it combined in one they will either book you on another flight to get you there on time, or book a flight to the next destination etc, its best for piece of mind.
When in June are you going because i like P&O and they are having a big sailaway from southampton for there 175th anniversary in june, also you would get free parking and money on board.

All cruises are all inclusive except for drinks, trips and tips. I have just returned for a cruise to the med with P&O and thoroughly enjoyed it, going again in August.
If you are looking to go on a cruise I would phone a specialist cruise travel agent ie: Bolsover, Gills etc. They will be able to answer every question you can think of. All cruise lines have different criteria, some are are in dollars, some are more formal, tips automatically charged daily, some you decide the amount at the end of the cruise.
A good place to find out about all the cruise lines is at Cruise Critic
Also if you book early enough with P&O you could be offered free parking at Southampton, or coach travel and OBC (on-board-credit).£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
