Blockbuster Video 'Promise' - easy free movies

If you rent movies from Blockbuster. you will be aware of the so called 'Blockbuster Promise' - it states that if a chart title is not available then you can rent it for free the next time.
As I rent a lot of movies, what I have been doing is this:
Go into my local Blockbuster store very late on either Friday or Saturday night, around 15 minutes before it closes.
Check every single chart rental to see if any don't have the white cases behind. If there are no white cases behind then this means there are no copies of that film left. Select one of the above movies and take the proper box up to the counter to ask if they have any copies left - the answer is always "no".
They will scan your card through and you get it free the next time you go in. I just go in the next day and pick my free copy up!
I have done this 4 times on the run on my last 4 visits to Blockbuster:
Collateral - FREE
The Village - FREE
Man On Fire - FREE
Bridget Jones Edge Of Reason - FREE
The trick is to go into the store very late - you can guarantee that there will be at least 2 or 3 chart rentals they are out of stock on.
First time I did this, I went around the store telling everyone to ask for Collateral free next time (got some very dirty looks from the manager) - I was amazed how few people would go up and ask because they felt it was thieving!!

Well done, it's not thieving at all.No reliance should be placed on the above.0

What lots of people don't find funny when doing this is we check the drop boxes and sometimes there is the title you are looking for and just as we are about to scan you change your mind, so we know when people are just out for a 'freebie'

This is why it's best to leave it till as late as possible before closing time, the drop boxes are usually emptied by then and any 'extra' copies have been given out already!lifeslove wrote:What lots of people don't find funny when doing this is we check the drop boxes and sometimes there is the title you are looking for and just as we are about to scan you change your mind, so we know when people are just out for a 'freebie'

Would love to do this, but live near a fairly large blockbuster, they ALWAYS have enough chart movies in stock, oh well."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0
