Alert Pay Email

Just recieved an email from 'alert pay' asking me to confirm some details, no links given to the site or anything, saying thank you for opening an account and that i have a transaction pending £199 from my visa but it gives no other clues to what card:confused: (i have 2 visas, 1 mastercard) i have a ref number and also confirmation code from them and there is an attatchment included with a programe on it but i didnt look too far into it and scanned every step with nortons. I also went into google and it seems another site similar to paypal and it didnt throw up anything about a scam, the email address via properties was techsupport@alertpay.com

Has anyone heard of this before? Is it a scam as i feel it is but there is a small bit of me thats unsure. The only thing i bought on the day mentioned was from amazon using that email address as most stuff i buy via my yahoo address via quidco/rpoints, it puzzles me can anyone please shed any light into this?
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Don't trust anything that asks you to confirm details. Banks won't be asking you that. Don't open attachments that you are not sure of. If you haven't opened such an account then you haven't got one!
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • i got the exact same email today which immediately suggests a scam. There have been a whole host of alertpay scams, but couldn't find anything specifically relating to this email.

i think what also points to a scam is the fact that the attachment to check your credit card details is a zip file which I thought was odd.

Anyway, now i know someone else has the same email I am pretty sure it is rubbish so thank you very much for posting.
  • Yup these are Fishing (phishing) scams. Never ever confirm your details in this way.

If you use the latest firefox browser, I think it warns you when you're looking at an email/page like this.
