Digital Camera

Hi everyone.

I am looking for a slim digital camera which has 5/6 mega pixles and at least x4 optical zoom for under £200 (maybe in sales).
Cant find one yet.
Any ideas?
To be honest not sure which are good and which are bad!

Looking at http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html none of the ultra-slim ones seem to have more than 3x optical zoom (which is equivalent to 105mm in a conventional 35mm camera).

With that in mind, this seems to be the one to go for:

It's a 6-megapixel camera with built in wi-fi and from Nikon, who generally have excellent build quality and image quality.

Jessops will also price match internet prices if you want to pick it up locally.

  • I'm looking for one also with similar specs, but OH insists on one with an old fashioned viewfinder!
Please help as I'm overwhelmed with reviews and choice.
    Thanks.

Don't know what the Nikons are like as per DavidHM's post, but I recently tried the L2 (or was it L2, 3 or 4??) - and although it took absolutely amazing photographs, it had bad shutter lag, and could take forever to focus. If and when it did lock on, it lived up to Nikon's reputation of quality images though.

Unfortunately it didn't suit my needs, which was a pity because it was small and beautiful, but still took AAs, which I wanted rather than a dedicated battery for my purposes.

This site is also worth taking a look at, I particularly liked the comparison table - lists all the cameras with their scores for various features, and you can sort the table by any of these, so if something is of particular importance to you, you can sort by that column, - take a look and see what I mean!

(I ended up going for the Canon A540, as I wanted something with lots of manual features, and although not necessarily the top scorer everywhere, it always came somewhere near the top)

Asda are doing Fuji FInepix A 500`s for about £89 or A 600`s for £119 May be able to get them cheaper online but easier to return if you get them from asda
