Hi Londonlost, First thing make a list of all your creditors, debts and assets. Secondly and most important is contact one of the following debt charities. Please try these they don't charge and are impartial. They will go through all your options with you and if they suggest bankruptcy then come back to this board and we will help you all we can. Also if your not ‘clicking’ with one of the Debt charities do try another.

Please don’t do anything rash take your time and weigh up your options and read everything you can x

    • Citizens Advice Bureau - Website: Citizens Advice or visit your local CAB centre (find nearest)
    • Consumer Credit Counselling Service - Website: CCCS Telephone: 0800 138 1111

And do remember we’ve all been through this and anything you don’t understand don’t be afraid to ask.

As If says, contact one of the debt charities, they can offer FREE professional advice. There is no need to pay for help with the forms, they're pretty straight forward and if you do have any queries then you can ask the Court BR Clerk, on here or even the debt charity.

Once you've taken advice, come back to MSE and ask questions on the relevant forum for your recommended route, DRO, IVA, DMP or Bankruptcy.

I paid an insolvency practitioner £500 plus VAT to fill in my forms and it was a complete waste of money and I very much regretted it.

Indeed, by the time you've gone through it with the CCCS (or other debt advice charity) it's just a case of filling in the form with the info you already have.

There are some subjective questions but these are easy to recognise(!) [such as the one about gambling!]

As others have said, you can come here for help.
