Exercises to tone bum/thighs pretty please

I know it sounds really daft but I toned up my bum and thighs a lot by doing loads of 'clenches'. Pushing thighs together and then clenching the bum while squeezing thighs - doing that when seated. I'd it to music while driving to work, I'd do it while sat in meetings (it isn't as noticeable as it might sound - honest!). It meant I was doing exercising without exercising
Hmmmmm! I suspect that it was actually very noticeable but nobody said anything because they thought you had worms.0 -
Thanks everyone
It's given me plenty to think about. I'll try to get a better technique for some lunges and squats and see how that goes... also try all the other exercises that have been explained.
I had a look at the bodyrocktv link and OMG  I'd last about 5 seconds and have to be put on bed rest to recover lol. Who knows, when I can build up some stamina I might have a go at it!!
Below is the line of the day for me :rotfl:made me laugh!!There's a lot you can do with bums!Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

Cheers!! I did actually consider it might look like I was trying to hold in a fartbut if you do it right your top half doesn't move. Must admit though I do it more in my car when there's nobody else around to notice

Another good one for thights and bum is:
Lie on your side, hand supporting your head, lower leg bent so you don't roll forward, then lift your straight leg up and down for twelve, rotate from the hip in small circles clockwise, still keeping leg straight for twelve, then anti-clockwise for twelve. Roll over and do the same with the other leg.
This will have no impact at all on your knees but you will really feel it in your bum and inner & outer thighs.

Thanks peachyprice and iseeyou
I'm having a few days off the exercising atmI had my first go on my EA Sports Active on Tuesady and all was going flippin fab until I started doing lunges lol. My dodgy left knee was a bit creaky so I over compensated with right leg, lost my balance and hit the deck
It wasn't until the night time that I realised I'd pulled my thigh muscle. Today it's loads better and can actually touch it without wanting to scream/cry. But to make myself worse I tried to get on my boyfriends motorbike ealier (had a luggage rack fitted so not as simple as swinging my leg over the back) and pulled the muscle in my right bum cheek lol... at least I know theres muscle there now... flippin eck it hurts!!!
I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do lunges tbh, my knee has never been right since having an op on it when I was 15. Still lots of suggestion here to give me plenty to try, thanks everyone for your help :TEven if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

Just thought I'd post here as I'm having similar problems at the moment! I've massively improved my eating habits (5 'meals' a day with a 50/20/30% split and 1800 cals, if that means much to anyone
) and I'm working out loads.
Fridays I do an hour long Zumba class, Tuesdays I have 30mins of kickboxing. In between this I do a variety of floor exercises, stretches, light weights and the Zumba game on the Wii. Not sure if I'm doing enough yet, but I'm sure I'll work it out eventually!
I've been doing this for six weeks now. I've lost 1.25" off my waist and 1" off my thigh measurement (doesn't sound like much but I'm toning, not losing!).
Here's the thing though...I've GAINED an inch on my hip/bum measurement!! I have no idea how, but for some reason it's appeared! This means I now have a MASSIVE difference of 11.25" between my waist and hip measurements - not great when trying to find jeans that fit!!
Thing is, my legs and backside are looking more toned, so obviously what I'm doing is working...
If anyone here knows WHY it's started doing this, or how I can reduce the size of my bum without dieting, I'd be very happy...for now though, I'm off to eat meal #3 - squash, sweet potato and ginger soup, yum!0
