Mailorder/catalogue arrears - lenders to avoid/prefer?

Can anyone advise of any mortgage lenders that will not be too harsh on late catalogue payments?

We are looking at applying for a mortgage in the next couple of months. We've had quite a bit of credit/loans over the past few years but always paid on time and we are finally about to pay it off in full.

But I stupidly had 4 late catalogue payments in 2006/7 (shows as 3 months of '1's' and 1 month which is a '2' on the credit report )and partner had one late catalogue payment from 2009 so just over 2 years ago. All other credit payments over the last few years up until present day are paid on time and all show as green on the report.

I see that the post office state in their lending criteria that they ignore mail order arrears unless significant. Does anyone know of any other lenders who may have the same view? Or more importantly, any lenders we should definitely avoid.

I'm worried this silly mistake will ruin our chances. Incase it helps, we have a 15% deposit and good steady incomes.

Also, can anyone tell me if a mortgage broker would be able to find out from mortgage companies if they would hold this against us before an application is put through? Last thing we need is a failed search on our credit report.

Thanks for your help
