We're planning to do a bit of work to our house and are considering replacing the windows before getting plastering work done.

I have no idea how much it's likely to cost to replace all the windows and front and back doors (fairly standard 3 bedroom semi). We have four windows that are about 8ft wide which I would imagine could push the price up. I believe that we paid over the going rate for 3 windows from Fairco McIlhagga back in 2000. We foolishly picked the company based on recommendation rather than shopping around. We won't make that mistake again.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what we could expect to pay or recommend companies to contact?

I've viewed previous threads and Woburn and Budget (both in Bangor) seem to get good recommendations - anyone got any views?

Thanks.

Price is easy, the lowest wins. Value on the otherhand (which I think you are asking) depends upon what is included. You need to understand what is available, what you want and that companies are providing that and not something they want to push onto you.

Can I suggest the following link as it explains what the jargon means, and will help you decide if you want SBD, EST,WER, BBA etc and you can search of other companies in your area.

    hope it helps

Buying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run.

Prob average around £250-300 per window fitted.
You should get a good price especially from companies who supplied a lot for thebuilding industry.
