Hi wonder if anyone can give me some advice please! I am a widow in 50s
I have my house currently up for sale, trouble is my bills are mounting up as I only receive a small pension from my husbands work. I want to borrow a few thousand pounds to catch up with my bills and be able to live till I can sell my house. where can I go to do this please.

May be tricky if you are not working, what is the delay in selling the house?

My bank Barclays turned me down. I have only had house up for 3 months, and people keep saying I may not sell for a while.

Why not rent out a couple of rooms while you are waiting to sell, it would help your cash flow. I am hosting foreign families at the moment, mainly students (there is a thread about this on the forum) this could be a temporary solution to your problem.

You only normally have to give 2 months notice to tenants. IT's unlikely a sale will go through in only 2 months even after accepting the offer.

These Student types generally only come over for a short time so may not even stay that long.

The students only stay for a couple of days, for instance I have two girls coming tonight and will be gone by monday morning, for four nights that roughly £110!

    Not bad money!!
