I Need a Carpet Cleaning Machine. A Vax? Other? Must be Lightweight. Needed by Sat.

As with all things, at short notice I need to source a "VAX, or any lightweight carpet cleaning machine".
This is for elderly people, so I want to stay away from stuff that requires two bruisers to operate
Can anybody recommend which ones are good/best, which to avoid ... and some amusing "I tried to clean my carpets but ..." stories.
Cheers.

Doesn't look like you getting much joy with your request PasturesNew.
Have you considered posting a request elsewhere? You could try submitting a Deal Requests on HotUKDeals if you haven't already.0 -
It's not a deal I'm after, it's advice really.... maybe I should have stuck it into DIY/In Your Home..... I'll go there.Lugh_Chronain wrote: »Doesn't look like you getting much joy with your request PasturesNew.

Depends what the carpets are like in my opinion! I have a vax rapide. I have normal pile in my sons room, but 'edeged-like' /grooved carpet in all other rooms and the rapide is rubbish on it!!! I stupidly went for cream carpets and have a toddler!! I will have to use a professional cleaner to clean mine after 1yrs use and 'walk-ways' a bit grubby!!!It only takes a moment to say a Thank-You, which goes a long way!

I suggested HUKD as someone there might point you in the right direction [hopefully].
Looks like you might have posted in the right forum section in the end though.0 -
This might be too late for you but have you thought about a Bissell ProHeat carpet cleaner? I've tried hiring carpet cleaners and a Vax but the Bissell beats them hands down. When we moved house we had a revolting carpet with food and pet stains, after we cleaned it with the Bissell it came up like new (it was a good quality carpet though). There are often deals on Amazon or you can get a reconditioned one.
