No, they are 'Crane Flies'. God knows why, if they tried lifting anything heavy they'd snap in half.

Bit like one of the images at Colchester Photographic Club's showing last night. It was entitled 'Honey bee' when it was clear to all that it was a hover fly.
Reminds me, must sort-out some images to submit for next weeks comp.

Boult, stop using magenta text on a white background, it gives me a headache.
