Update on Mam - she's not too good at the moment
On Friday, she was yelling for my Sister from the moment my brother left at lunchtime, but when Sis got there at tea-time, Mam really laid into her, saying she did never did anything right. Mam only stopped to eat her dinner, but started up again yelling at my Sis straight afterwards. Sis said Mam looked ker-nackered
My sis was upset, especially as she still has her asthma problem and is on the 6th round of antibiotics & steroids, so she was very down
Anyway, when my brother went down there lunchtime Saturday, Mam started her shouting and yelling again, just repeating herself over and over again, and, as this was the first time my bro had seen her this bed, he was very worried and upset, and texted my Sis, who went down early at 3 pm. Bro stayed till 4.30 pm but it was after 8 pm when sis got away home. They had told bro that Mam would have to wait till Monday to see Doc on her rounds but my sis was having none of thatAs it happens, the Doc had been called in for another resident so came to see Mam at 6.40 pm, agreeing that Mam's behaviour was not 'normal' to her and that she was exhausting her self. Thought it may be a urine or chest infection, so put her on a broad-based antibiotic, and agreed with my Sis that she needed something to relax her to allow her to sleep and recover, so she said she could have Lorazipam. Nurse brought her a 1/4 tablet as normal dose was half a tablet but with mam being so tiny now, could not give her full dose. Said it would take about 20 mins to work, but Mam fought it and had to be given the other 1/4 tablet at 7.40 pm, so she was just starting to look a bit sleepy when Sis left at 8 pm
However, the nurse today said Mam had fought the tablet all the way till 1 am when she eventually got to sleep, poor thing, and was still shouting up till then. When Sis got there at lunchtime today, Mam was dozy but bed was wet as she had spilt her drink, for the second time that day, so they had to change her bedding again. Sis fed her but Mam still dozing, gazing around her with her eyes rolling, and her chest still sounded bad
After going home around 1.30 pm, Sis got call from the home to say Mam had been yelling bad, so Sis went back down to find Mam as bad as she was last night. Nurse gave her another dose of Lorazapam, in home that would settle her again, so Sis stayed until Mam settled
Not looking a good day for Mam for her birthday tomorrowMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
