I have been approached by this company to help resolve some fairly major issues I have with a mortgage provider. A representative of CMM knows a member of my family and rang out of the blue, saying this firm had been able to help his family who found themselves in a similar situation to mine. I have read the threads on this site relating to Consumer Money Matters reclaiming PPI and seen general dissatisfaction.
Has anyone used them for help re mortgages? If so, what is their track record? Similar sales approach, long phone call, promise of waiving of fee, need to run my case past their 'legal experts'. They want to take 29.5% of any successful claim.
Are they a genuine company who can help in such matters or should they be avoided at all costs?

In your situation, if I saw dissatisfaction over PPI, I would not consider them further. Particularly if you recognise that your contact with them so far fits a pattern.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Most of the claims companies appear to be opportunistic individuals with no financial training or experience but are looking for a quick and easy way to scam money off you.
Many of them give false reasons or tell outright lies to get you to use them. So, you should always be on guard.I have been approached by this company to help resolve some fairly major issues I have with a mortgage provider.
How did they know you had issues? Sounds like a data protection breach if they can tell your situation without you providing any details.
It is against the rules for a claims company to cold call you if legal action is a possibility. So, reference to "legal experts" probably doesnt actually mean legal experts in the way you think. They want to take 29.5% of any successful claim.
Plus 20% VAT as their service is vatable. Plus, if the redress payment, if you get one, includes interest (which most do) then you also pay 20% tax on that interest. However, the claims company will take their cut on the gross amount.
As we dont know your mortgage issues, we cant really say if they will help you or not. Give us an idea of your issues and we will tell you if we think you would benefit or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had a man come to my house on Friday night after being sick of all the phone calls I had form consumer money matters regarding reclaiming some ppi that I had on a loan, The man turn up at 7.30, he start going into some big sells pitch telling me if I died my kids would be taken into care ??????? I asked why ? because I don't have a will? It turn out that was just the tip of the iceberg, after asking to see what he was filling in, it was all about things such as life insurance, wills debt management, and then he started asking about my pensions? time 9.30. At this point I told him all I wanted to do was my ppi claims.
He went though the paper work and told me where I needed to sign which I did, and after I signed he told me that I had to pay £270?????
I took all the paper wok of him and asked him to leave time 10.15 on a Friday night.
I would say to anyone thinking of using this company DON'T I have never left so uneasy in my own home.!!0 -

Thank you for your post. I was dissappointed to read that you decided not to pursue the claim through ourselves and wish you every luck in attempting to claim without our help. As a large company looking into several thousand claims a month our management team are always interested in customer feedback and are always looking to improve our service. For this reason we have looked into what happened on Friday and as we rarely have this type of situation we've been able to identify you on our system from the information you have posted. We have listened to the original call to check that the agent has followed correct procedures. Towards the beginning of the call the administration fee and commission were covered correctly. At the end of the call, however, you did ask for clarification regarding the costs and you were told that we work on a no win no fee basis. Although this is accurate as any administration fee is refunded if the claim happens to be unsuccessful, we believe this is why you were surprised when the fee was mentioned at the visit.
We will be speaking and feeding back to the individual involved to prevent this from happening again. We do make every effort to ensure that the fees are clear and send clients our brochure which covers the fees in full on page 5.
Should you wish to call us regarding this please contact us on the number you have been given. Again I wish you every success with your claim.
Regards,
Phil
