As the title suggest... will a blender do the job? I don't have a food processor. I've got a handheld blender and one with a jug... or am I going to have to do it by hand - I was trying to save time!

Hand blender was a stupid idea  so satisfyingly doing it by hand - a good lesson really as I've never relied on elbow grease alone... it had better taste good!0

was it a tesco value hand mixer?
Exactly the same thing happened to me on saturday! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi fac
A blender wouldn't have worked. They work by grinding and crushing stuff to a pulp; whisks are designed to incorporate air into whatever you are whisking.
How did it turn out?0 -

Hi lynzpower, no it wasn't tesco, it was cookworks from Argos - suppose I've had my £5 worth of use! That reminds me that I had seen your thread so should've known not to try it

Hello, silly me really, it's just that it's a cherry cake and apparently takes an age to cook - my first attempt at cherry cake so if it's edible then I'll be satisfied. Looked okay though!0 -
I only ever mix (beat) cake ingredients by hand.0

Yep me too don't have any whisk type gadgets. Cherry cake is one of my faves, been making a cherry and almond one lately it stays lovely and moist and is yum........0

I applaud you both! My mum always used to do them by hand and was convinced they tasted better that way. I guess I'll be following suit until I get a new whisk.
I forgot the almonds
and the cherries sank
still yum though

Hello fac73 glad to hear the cake turned out ok in the end. Can be a prob with cherries sinking, did you coat them in flour as this seems to help? If you rinse them thoroughly under cold water, toss them in some flour and shake off the excess they are less likely to sink
Happy baking
