What is this thing with vintage tractors?

A local charity recently had a "Vintage Tractor Run".
Let's just say I was sceptical.
97 tractors turned up and a small King's ransom was raised.
One is quite astonished.
EDIT: This is one for the "only in Northern Ireland" thing.

There are lots of people with a farming background. N.Ireland is also the birthplace of Harry Ferguson who is very very famous amongst farming folk and actually appears on one of our £10 notes (forget which bank). All in all there is a lot of interest and these tractor runs are apparently good craic.
There's also a truck run around the Mournes in August or maybe September. Dozens and dozens and dozens of lorries drive around the mountains and toot their horns and wave for a couple of hours and raise oodles of cash for charity. It's a sight to behold - actually a lot more interesting than it sounds.0
