You offered them £10 and they have accepted it, can't see what the problem was.

How can your child benefit be reduced by £75 a week when it is just over £20 a week anyway?
  • they have no right to take money out of your account without consent, change your bank account and card. ask them for bank details for a standing order of x amount per week/month. under no circumstances should you be "skinting" yourself to pay off a loan. I pay £1 per month and if they dont like it that it tough. find debt advice for budgeting with either the cccs or cab.

(you need to google search it as i can not post links :( )

I fully recomend the CCCS debt remedy though as they are non profit and help out loads!

From the opening post I tip my hat to Wageday, they have complied with exactly what was requested.

Sticking two fingers up at them and simply telling them you will pay them only when you feel like it may make you feel as if you have the upper hand, but it comes at a price.

Miss a payment and all those lovely charges start piling in adding to your debt.
You can run and run burying your head deeper and deeper in the sand, but they will find you in the end.

Whether it be right or wrong is another argument, but from history, I am more surprised they didn't swoop in and reclaim the whole debt leaving a bank account with nothing more than tumbleweed blowing through it.

Note for the OP - If you were only prepared to start making your £10 payments when it suited you, why on earth didn't you tell them when you wanted to start your payments??

With these companies, at the point of application you give consent for them to claim back their money as and when possible, by whatever payment method(s) you supply to them.

I agree that the OP is lucky that it is only £10 they took. Normally, they will keep trying to claim money until there is no more left.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you? ;)
