I've just posted this in the Banking and Current Account forum, but thought it might be of interest to this forum as well...
If you take out home insurance with First Direct during the month of December, they will make a donation of £10 on your behalf.

Remember to cancel it immediately, so that you don't incur any fees.
What a wonderful way to tick off First Direct, whilst simultaneously donating to a worthwhile charity.
Kind of ironic that First Direct are supporting a charity for the homeless, whilst penalising the poorest members of society who want to operate a bank account by charging them £10 per month
