I'm a bit confused as I did not have to pay anything.

that's right. you didn't have to pay anything.

you got a voucher for £10. card fee was £5 and then £5 is loaded on to the card. total = £0.

essentially, a free fiver as op's title says!

the other £5 was the card fee.

without this offer, if you did want to buy this card, you would have to pay a £5 card fee (in order to get the card).

Shame I just missed this offer, I have been looking to get a pre paid card. I wouldn't have been bothered about the £5 free credit but would have loved to not to have paid the fee :(
    Comping wishlist for 2017
    1. Family holiday 2. Christmas presents :rudolf: 3. Fishing stuff

my mum has been looking for a contactless card as her bank don't do them atm....so this works out perfectly.

the £10 for me and my bf will keep us going with some beans and toast for an extra couple of weeks; especially as our student loans haven't come through yet.

Sorry to hear about your loan, I'm waiting for my student grant to come through so I can replace my dying/almost dead computer which will be a few weeks away, sucks doesn't it :(
